I'm wanting to get the best photographer for the money, with an album and some larger prints included in the price. But prices vary so much - what is the best price range and can anybody recommend a photographer? Help, please!

Also, I want a photographer from Northern Ireland - I want to be able to understand their instructions on the day. Friends have said that ones from Belfast are too expensive for what you get. If you don;t want to post here you can also PM me.

I'd spend £500 at the most - but that's because I've a mate who said he'd do it. Mind you I might regret it. He isn't a wedding photographer!

photographer is one thing, getting your wedding album sorted is another - i'm finding that that is the most expensive part. And ordering larger photos / more photos all adds up.

There are a lot of photographers out there but most professionals you wont get much below £900. While you may have a friend will ing to take the pics are they actually up to the job and can they supply a decent album. What about insurance, backup kit etc. Ok I have a vested interest as a photographer but you only get one shot at the wedding pics so really want someone to give you what you want. Fell free to get in touch anyone. www.colinturtle.co.uk

Unique insight from a photographer! I personally think 600-800 pounds is about all I'd want to pay. Not skimping, just frugal! Wedding photos are precious, but they don't have to be really expensive LOL!

Don't spend any more than £800 or so. It's a complete waste. Most photographers in Northern Ireland use cameras that are under £1000 to buy. They set up cheap websites and make a killing on us more couples trying to put a wedding together!!! Sorry for the gripe. I've paid 50% to book my photographer. And that was £1100.

Hi there. I think that the wedding photography is one of the most important factors of the day weather you want it fun and unscripted or formal and posed. You must remember that in twenty years it's your wedding photographs that you will be looking back over to re-live the day. Most good, reliable photographers will use great tools, printings labs and be professional from your first meeting. I am using a Holywood based photographer called Bradley Quinn. His prices vary, depending on what type of coverage and album require. Bradley's work is fantastic and he is very professional, I would highly recommend him! His website is www.bradleyquinn.com the website has a date checker and price enquiry. Good Luck!

I think that you hit the nail firmly on the head. In years to come the only lasting reminder is your wedding photographs. As for the comment about most photographers in NI having cameras at less than £1000 I dont believe that this is the case. At the average wedding I woudl have around £5000 in equipment. However it is really irrelevant because it is not the camera that makes the photographer... It is the ability TO USE IT....

Sorry I meant to answer the actual original question which was --- whats the right amoun to spend on your photographer...And the answer is ..whatever you are comfortable spending... Though if you take the costs of the cake or cars, or flowers, or even the dresses all of which will only be used for a very short time and then comapre that to the proce you may be thinking of paying for an album that lasts a lifetime it might help the thought process.

I totally agree - your wedding pictures are what you will be looking at in 25 years time - if you go expensive on anything i would definately make it the phtotgraphy. also make sure you get someone professional who can offer you something different something than relates to your personality because that needs to come through in your pictures - try Ciaran O'Neill Photography hes based in Belfast and Lurgan but is one the best photographers I know! Good Luck! :)
